What if I have injuries, can I still practice?

Pilates can challenge the most athletic person and care for the most injured. It’s inception was, in fact, a form of physical therapy. The machines were originated from hospital beds with springs attached…to rehabilitate the injured and ill. It then became the famous ‘go to’ form of fitness for New York dancers. It has now become an integral part of every serious athletes training as well as being a ‘go to’ prescription for people after injury, surgery etc. If you are currently under the care of a physician or other health care provider please obtain clearance.

What should I wear to my Pilates class?

The most important thing to remember when choosing clothing for Pilates class is comfort and flexibility. The best clothes to wear to Pilates classes are ones that are form-fitting. Loose, baggy clothing will not only make it difficult to move, but also prevent the instructor from observing your form. The key to Pilates is your form, and your instructor will need to assess your body alignment and symmetry to see if there are any areas that need improvement. You also need to wear stretchy materials to help you exercise without restraint. Shoes and barefoot are not allowed on apparatus. Please wear socks preferable with bottom grips. If you forget to bring socks you can purchase at the studio for $10 dollars (+ sales taxes).
